(Settlers and Purchasers Lots)
Record maintained by the Land Office of lots and tracts west of
Fort Cumberland not allocated to soldiers who served in the
Continental Army during the Revolution. Entries list lands
claimed by settlers and lots retained and sold by the state. Also
shown are subsequent land transactions for many tracts and lots.
Arranged by category - settlers entitled to preemptions,
purchasers entitled to preemptions, lots retained by the state,
and lots claimed by settlers - and then alphabetically by names
of settlers or purchasers or numerically by lot numbers.
See Introduction to Land Records
for more information concerning this series and the Land Office in general. For an excellent effort to trace the ownership of lots and lives of two people who initially settled there see Jacob & Michael Corn living west of Fort Cumberland
