Original copies of warrants of survey. Within the colony, warrants were official precepts issued first by the Governor or Secretary and later by the Register of the Land Office or others so empowered, directing the surveyor to lay out and survey tracts and to return signed certificates of survey in preparation for granting patents. Records after 1967 also contain documents filed during the patenting process including notices, surveys, caveat papers, and patents. Warrants, 1699-1933, arranged chronologically. Files, 1967-2011, arranged by warrant number. Some records unprocessed, see [MSA T6].
