Directions to the Maryland State Archives
The public search room is open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please note that records will only be pulled every half hour starting at 8:45, with the last pull of the day at 3:45. The Archives is CLOSED ON SUNDAYS, MONDAYS, the FIRST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH, and SATURDAYS OF HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.
The search room remains open all day. Occasionally on Saturdays, due to staffing, the search room and lobby will close from 12 noon - 1 p.m. for lunch and patrons must leave the building. There is no lunch room in the building for patrons. There are restaurants and a state cafeteria (open weekdays only) within walking distance of the Archives.
The Saturday closures for 2013 include: January 5th & 19th; February 2nd &16th; March 2nd; April 6th; May 4th & 25th; June 1st; July 6th; August 3rd & 31st; September 7th; October 5th; November 2nd, 9th & 23rd; December 7th.
The state holiday closures for 2013 are: Tuesday, January 1st; Monday, January 21st; Monday, February 18th; Monday, May 27th; Thursday, July 4th; Monday, September 2nd; Monday, October 14th; Monday, November 11th; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, November 27th, 28th and 29th; and Tuesday and Wednesday, December 24th and 25th and Tuesday, December 31st..
