Genealogical Sources in Periodicals at the Maryland State Archives

The purpose of this Bibliography is to enable patrons of the Maryland State Archives to locate genealogical articles in the periodicals found in the Archives' Library. Such articles are extremely helpful, only if they can be located and used.

Entries are arranged by family name, county, and topic (e.g. "African American," "Migration," "War of 1812," etc.)

The last comprehensive bibliography of Maryland genealogical articles is Thomas L. Hollowak's "Maryland Genealogy and Family History: A Bibliography, 1987-1989," MGSB 33 (3) (Summer 1992) 484-530. The Maryland Historical Magazine publishes annual bibliographies of Marylandiana, but genealogical source materials and family histories are largely ignored.
